About Legal Aid South Africa
Legal Aid South Africa was established in 1969 as an independent statutory body to provide South African citizens who do not have the resources to afford the cost of a legal representative, with legal services. The organisation’s mandate is to ensure access to justice for all, while also improving the public’s knowledge of their legal and constitutional rights. Legal Aid South Africa has become a model for the implementation of legal aid services in Africa and abroad and remains committed to providing professional legal services to those who most require it.
